Default Tial Q 50mm BOV spring rate test

I have a Tial Q 50mm BOV on my turbo TA and am getting compressor surge. I did not buy the BOV new so I did not know what spring was in it. I opened it up to find a Pink spring. I have no way of telling if it is the Dark Pink spring or the Hot Pink spring. Has anyone tested the spring in the BOV with a vacuum pump? I have to drive about 30 min to go pick up my vacuum pump to test. I am assuming that I can just pull a vacuum on the port until it opens to determine what spring I have in mine.
Also my BOV vacuum source was an 1/8" line T'd off to about three other items. I have put it on a dedicated 1/4" line and yet to test.

If you purchased your Tial BOV new did you receive multiple springs or only the one you requested?

Here is the chart that Tial has on their site.

How much vacuum does your car make at idle? and off idle at cruising speeds?

Car idles around 14-16 inhg at operating temp, so according to the chart I am in need of a white spring.

I did test my spring and it takes 21-22 inhg just to crack the valve open. That was with no pressure on the valve side. It takes 25-27inhg to open the valve half way, again with no pressure on the valve. No way is this thing going to open on my car at 14inhg even with 8psi pushing on the valve.

Anyone have a white spring for a Tial 50mm BOV laying around??

That's what I was getting at. I was experiencing the same, my ported antisurge holes were rushing air out like crazy when letting off of the transbrake/2step. Put a white spring in and it fixed it.

I was not the original builder of this car. I dont know why anyone would put the dark pink ( strongest ) spring in this BOV. No way this car was ever going to pull 20+ inhg.

I had the same surge issue. I put in a white spring (replaced the black) and it fixed the issue. My BOV will crack open while cruising but id rather have that then surge my turbo

1bad03snake, thanks for the info. I picked this car up from Deer Park Tx last year.

I did reroute the vacuum lines today and have a dedicated line from the old EVAP port straight to the BOV. I used the 90° bend from the factory EVAP line to hook to the port on the intake manifold.
