So i got to dicking around in class the other night, and was looking at TSP.com and was looking at building a 9".

For street and Daily use what is the propper/best differentil and spline count? the list that you can choose from is a mile long lol such as, wav, trutrac, steel spool.
I am still using my 6speed if that matters

Another question is the 98's had 3 channel ABS right?

just my personal opinion, I would choose a 35 spline wavetrac. I wouldn't recommend a locker or a spool for a DD

IMO, 31 spline is plenty for street and Daily use, and get the WaveTrac if you budget permits. On the street go with the Iron case, standard width rear, 3.89 gears, get the fill and drain plug, LCA relocation brackets, an you most likely don't need the back brace for what you want.
Also if your car has traction control, then you have 4ch abs, otherwise it's 3ch abs..

i bought a used 9inch that has 35 spline axles and a full spool. It isnt much fun trying to park it anymore especially with 315 tires out back. That is my only complaint about a full spool on the street as a daily driver(I dont daily drive mine so i will be keeping the spool)

What is the difference in the spline
I have 4.10 gears now I was thinking of either 4.11 or as 99BluZ said a 3.89 and I never understood lockers and spools and such. Is there any good information out there on them?

Check out a Strange S60, they come with 35 spline axles and a S-trac diff for easily $700 less than a 9". With the S60 you need to get a new drive shaft but with the 9" you should upgrade the DS also, why move the weak link from the rear to the DS. A broke DS will really tear **** up. Give Carl at CRP a call on a S60.

Stay away from a Detroit Locker with the T56 6 spd the play in the locker interferes with the operation of the synchros in the trans during normal driving.

For street driving a S60 or 12Bolt would likely be better than a 9 inch. The 9 inch has a higher parasitic power loss. regardless of which you get make sure it has bearing retainer plates on the housing ends (no c-clips).

A spool is a solid center section basicly making one solid axel. This means both tires turn at the same speed all the time. When going around a corner you need the outside tire to be turning faster, larger radius over the same amount of time greater distance traveled.

A locker locks and unlocks as required to allow the tires to turn at different speeds for cornering but locks up in a straight line to apply equal power to both tires.

Various types of limited slips apply differing amounts of power to each tire as required. Not always as expected or desired. Best to check with a manufacturer for a detailed explanation.
