Default TR 220 or TR 224????

i have ported 5.3 heads, and a vig 3200 stall, would the TR220, work better for low end Torqe, or should i get the 224? i want to get at least around 390 RWTQ, or can anyone suggest another cam? this is my daily driver also, so i dont want a big choopy loopy sound, i will also be getting a tune, and this is going into a blazer so i cant run headers but will have true dual free flowing exaust no catback, just an X pipe

I ran a TR220 with patriot stage II 5.3's with headers, offroad Y, B&B triflow, asp pulley, and stock TB. That was with stock tuning and no cutout. It made 416rwhp and 392rwtq. I'm sure with some LS1edit tuning I could have tweaked a little more out of it, that was a nice combo.. but if I had it to do over again I'd probably do a TR224 instead for a little more at the top end.

TR224 The graphs between the two are almost identical. The 224 pulls harder on the big end and will have a tad more midrange power but the lowend will be virtually the same.

I had it on a 112lsa and stock tuning, so it loped just a little bit. Never did stall or have driving problems. That was about 2 years ago when I had that combo. Don't have any video or sound clips, sorry.

Go for the TR224. I have the 114 lsa version and it's very tame. It made 385 hp / 376 tq before the heads and 415 / 404 after.

I have some video. If you want to see it, send me a PM with your email addy.

The TR220 is a better street cam. It will have slightly better street manners than the TR224. The TR220 will also idle smoother.

The TR224 is a better street / strip cam. The TR224 makes slightly better top end power and will have more lope than the TR220. The TR224 is very streetable with a decent tune.

If you're a drag racer get the TR224, it you're a street car only get the TR220.

A few months back..I was reading all these forums and all I can say is from my personal perspective the 224/224 114lsa installed at TTP with ls1edit tuning is so civilized its the way GM should have built the car from the get go.

Drive into manhattan or go on long trips etc..and no one can even tell it has a cam at a stop light...

The 224/224 114 lsa cam is a real civilized street package.

JB's is correct about the TR224 114LSA combined with a good tune. Very streetable. I have my TR224 112LSA set to idle at 875rpms and she purrs like a 114LSA. Stock idle speed was alot lopier.

I heard a TR220 on a 114 a few days ago through a borla cat back and it sound 100% factory. I had to ask his friend if he was lying. Then I got right next to the exhaust to focus on it...there was a VERY, VERY SLIGHT lope.

Don't waste your time/money/effort on a small TR220 114 that won't even be noticed and also got its *** handed to it by my friend's car that had a
230/232 .591 .595 112 cam only setup. Some people just need to stay factory.
