Default Ls1 Fairlane

Drunk driver crashed into my friends 2000 Camaro. It is a total lost and I am thinking of buying the motor and trans from him to swap in the Fairlane.

My question is what else is needed to the swap as cars as motor mount, fuel system,etc..

I think you're thinking Fairmont, a '63 Fairlane is a whole different animal. I've not seen any threads on one so it may be a trial and error situation. Would be cool though, I'd like to see it done.

A `63 Fairlane has a real narrow engine bay with those huge shock towers, a 289-302 is a tight fit. Engine sits way forward over the front axle centerline, not ideal for ANY performance type deal. Crites shock tower reducer kit (cheapest way) or Pinto/Mustang II clip welded in is the way to do that swap.

Thanks. Just seeing if its wort the hassle to do the swap or just go turbo with the 5.0. I have seen 351 windsor swaps just thought the ls1 would be easy considering I would have the motor ,harness, tranny, etc.

i have a 64 and it was terrible to work on with the shock towers. switched over to rod and custom front end and going twin turbo (ford power though). i have a new in box crites shock tower kit if you are interested.

build a 351 and turbo it off the bat if u can or wait and turbo it down the road.i would do that instead of an ls swap.would be alot cooler and clean plus keeping it all ford but just my opinion though.
