B&G Engines in Alvin is pretty reasonably priced for stuff like that.

Also try H&H Machine in Santa Fe on HWY 6 .

Wow, I've actually used HH before to resurface my flywheel and fix some broken exhaust bolts in the heads. Have you used them before for head work? I need the surfaces cleaned and possibly checked to make sure it's completely flat for the headers and bottom. I have a bunch of swirl marks that I possibly need checked out. A few I can feel with my finger nail and I'm no gear head so I don't know if it's something I should worry about.

Yes I used H&H to do all of the machining on a 355 I built for my dads 70 Nova. No complaints from them at all. B&G is a little cheaper and build way more performance engines etc etc..

But for basic surfacing/valve job, HH should be fine. Make sure to get the RA finish correct for the type of head gaskets you are going to use.

Will they know? I'm going with LS9 gaskets and I've never heard of RA finish. I'll stick with them as the old man is nice and they are easy to deal with, close and quick.

With ls9 gaskets it won't matter much. Just have them do a VERY light skim on the heads to true them up.. Don't "mill" them. You want to keep as much thickness on the deck as you can. HH will know what to do.

It's at the place connected to HH which is another company. I don't know what you consider expensive but I was quoted <100 for both of them. Obviously much cheaper than what I was assuming which is nice. He said it looked like normal scratches from the factory. I explained what it was for and I'd be using thicker gaskets.

These are just one of the heads as the other one looked much better.

Took with camera phone instead of DSLR.
