Default can someone give me a 4l60e break down by years/compatibility?

I have read many threads on here and would like to get a solid answer on this. Many threads only cover up to a certain year then stop. I am sure others would like to know as well.

Can someone give me a break down of what years the 4l60E transmission changed and what it is compatible with?

Basically, I have a 2008 4.8l motor and I am trying to find the right transmission. From what I am being told I need a 2007-2009 4l60E due to the wiring harness. Is this correct? Are there other tranny combos that will work for my motor? is there a stand alone computer for the transmission I need or is it all off of the vehicle ECM?

Thanks

Do you have the harness and ECM for that 08 yet? If so you are pretty much going to need that 07-09 trans and TCM. Those transmissions have an internal range switch and input speed sensor. They also got rid of the fluid pressure switch assembly in those years.

I have the 08 harness but don't have the ecm yet. Can I just get a different year 4l60e and tcm to go with it? Or will the ecm not work with it?

It would be a lot less work if you just get a trans from that year of vehicle because if you used a PCM from an older vehicle to run the trans you would have to repin connectors among other things.

Thanks, It may be a lot less work but finding one proves to be elusive.
