Best place for oil return?
Yes I know there are 50 of these threads. I just got a new Holley 302-2 and am reluctant to drill into it already. My old oil return was at the top on the side above the deepest part of the sump on a truck pan.
Has anyone successfully used the oil cooler feed/return for a turbo? Just asking because that's where my oil feed is currently. The turbo is up behind the passenger side headlight on my nova where the battery used to be. I found this on ebay.

You cannot return the oil from the turbo to the cooler ports. However you can supply the turbo oil from the cooler ports.
Ill add that the ports must both be used. You cannot use one port for the feed and block the other off.

Alright I'll probably just buy another fitting and find someone that can weld aluminum. The pan is off of the car now, and if I was going to remove the timing cover, I would probably go ahead and swap cams.

That ebay piece is really weird !!
It looks like it will block all oil flow to the engine if you actually use one of those ports for anything ! lol
Maybe some oil pans are different though. But normally oil actually flows through the piece that is bolted on.

Where is everyone getting the aluminum fittings that they are welding into the pan? I was using a brass bulkhead fitting, but I may as well weld it on this time so I don't have to worry about the nut on the back coming off.

Any of the weld in bungs from summit in the right material and your size choice should work. Just make sure they are weld in and have no coating on them.

If you block off either fitting the engine wont recieve any oil

It is for an external oil cooler, both holes are pressurized oil, one being for "hot oil out" the other "cold oil in". The oil flow is required to be in a loop, but one could tap into either fitting to supply oil to the turbo.

I sure wouldnt want to be relying on that to supply my engine given the internal oil galleries are 1/2" diameter !
That piece on it's own makes no sense whatsoever unless it was used with other parts or after modifying the original pan to allow oil flow.
