Default Holley swap pan question

Hey Guys,
The new Holley swap pan comes with a small aluminum part that gets bolted onto the pan just above the oil filter.
My old pan has a similar part that has a sending unit in it.
My Ls1 is from a 2004 corvette. I'm not sure which part to use.
Will the ECM want this sending unit to be connected or is it not necessary?
I'm not sure what this sending unit does.
Thanks, Dan

Not necessary. Its blocked off/looped on most pans.

You can just replace the port cover which Holley supplies with the port cover that you already have. I have the Holley 302-2 pan and the same port cover you have pictured, and that is what I did, and it fits fine.

Whether or not the ECM wants the sending unit, I have no idea. The fact that it exists probably means that it is wanted, so installing it even if it is unused is a measure of insurance.

Its an oil temp sender that only the corvette uses. Just use the block off from your old pan, or you can put your oil pressure sender there.

You can block it off using the piece that does not have a port on it.

My car has an oil pressure gauge and an oil pressure dummy light. I put the gauge sending unit up on the top of the block where the OE sender is, but I used the port you have pictured for an oil pressure switch for my dash dummy light.
