Question 02 WS6: what could cause bad exhaust fume smell when Heater is turned on?

recently been getting choked out bad in the cabin when the heater is turned on. really bad like coughing and throat closing etc.

turn the heater off and it doesn't do it. much worse when stoped, when moving its not very noticeable.

any ideas? and advice would be greatly appreciated!

stock motor other than lid. 187,000 miles. exhaust manifold gaskets do not appear to be leaking and no ticking sound.

I'd check your exhaust clamps. Also if it's the
stock exhaust it's possible that it's rusted out
slightly causing a leak. Best bet is to get it up
on jack stands with a good light.

Pcv hose has a crack and the uptake for the vent is right above the back of the passengers side valve cover.

You should also flush your coolant system.
