Default Is this an exhaust manifold leak....

Is this an exhaust manifold leak, or do I have bigger problems? I was changing the oil today, and while under the car I noticed this

I pulled the plug and the threads are dry. What am I in for here?

Check your valve cover gaskets.

lol, I know. That's why it got me worried. I'll pull the VC this weekend and see what it looks like.

Pulled the valve cover yesterday. I saw no evidence of oil escaping around the gasket.

Got a loose spark plug, blowing out the oil?

That was my first thought as well, but I pulled the plug and the threads are clean (see first post)

Is that black residue actually oily? Or just crusty carbon buildup? Rub you finger all over it (that's what she said ). You could always get some of that Tracer UV Fluorescent Leak Detection Dye for the oil and a blacklight flashlight and eliminate/confirm an oil leak as a cause pretty quickly.

You need headers anyway! Much better sound, easier plug access, +1MPG lol, big hp gains for the money. Just saying...
