I have two 4l60e's, I was planning on swapping one for the other. The input shaft is very different, as is the output shaft, so for simplicity I thought I'd just swap the bad parts from one to the other, (the oil pump??). When I took the oil pan out, I found this (if the image doesn't load, its sludge, silver sludge and metal shavings that are up to 1-2mm in size. What type of failure would cause this significant of shavings? Is there likely a single part of this trans worth reusing? Can I reassemble the trans that works with the broken trans input shaft?
