performance chip
I am thinking on getting a performance chip installed on my 99 TA and wondering if y'all think this is a good idea or if I should just buy the HP tuner? I would like to see some HP gains and faster 1/4 mile times. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks. Also, let me know of any performance chips you reccomend.

the ls1 is not chipped, its flashed (ie with ls1edit/hptuners) via obd-2 port.
not sure what you are talking bout.
get all your mods on then get a tune then maybe get hptuners to screw with things

Judging by your question about "chipping" an LS1, before you do any mods spend some time on here learning all you can about the cars and engine. You'll find a lot of info about what mods work and which ones are snake oil.
A stock LS1 won't gain much from tuning but add long tube headers, decent cat-back, lid, !screen maf and a ported TB and tuning will help. Install a cam and tuning becomes an almost must.
