Default Gearing for this turbo fed street car....help

Alright I'm not sure if this was the right place for this, but I figured there would be more turbo people reading it here. I just got my 9" for my 97 ls swapped rear mount trans am. Its a convertible with a roll bar and extra weight adders so I would say it weighs in around 4000 lbs. I had 3.42s in the 10 bolt and it would pull harder in third gear than it would in first or second. The car is an A4 with a 25-26" drag radial. The turbo is a rear mount t76 with a .96 ar exhaust. I was told that it needs more load on the engine to produce the heat the turbo needs and that I should be looking for a higher gear ratio like a 3.00 or 3.25. I don't want to go too high so I am looking into what is working out on the streets.

I was wondering if I would need anything higher since it is a rear mount. The car started out with 3.23 pre turbo and I didn't notice much when I went to 3.42. You think it would be enough of a difference?

When you guys run the really long rear end gears do you have any issues with cutting good 60' times? I see people often posting about running 3.50-3.25 or even lower numerically, but is that more of a street car thing to help spool, or would that apply to a track only car too?

My 3.42s cut a 1.96 on drag radials foot braking to 2300 so I don't know wether a higher gear would help me or not. That's what I'm trying to cure.

Id think a transbrake would help more than gears really.

its a street car thing. On a track car you gear for finish line RPM.

Well I ended up with 3.25, so we'll see how they act. At least I'll get a little better fuel mileage if anything.
