Default pacesetter Y pipe merge point.

OK I'm running pacesetter long tubes and off road Y pipe. The merge point on that y pipe has never really satisfied me. So I brought a flow master 3 into 3.5 Y collector and a flow master 3.5 to 3 venturi reducer on it to get it back down to 3". I was wondering if anyone else has done likewise before and saw gains. Seems like it should help with the extra volume at the merge point. The rest of the exhaust is a borla cat back.

Very doubtful to see gains from such a small change.

I would just leave it as is, seems more trouble that it's worth... or go all out with true duals and get some real gains

I have Pacesetter long tubes and ORY, and did the exact same thing with the 3 into 3.5 FM merge. It really heplped to kill the rasp, and it actually might have made a difference in terms of power since my buddy's ported/pullied 03 Cobra used to pull me by about a car, and now it's a dead even race.

Good to see someone has done the same with some kind of results. I got a 180 degree mandrel bend to cut and use to get the pipes into the collector. I kind of figured it would change the tone a little bit as well. I already have the parts so if it don't do a thing its not the first bit of wasted time and money. A car length in the quarter is a fair gain though.

I know I was suprised as well, because he used to beat me every single time...time after time...then it all chnged due to that little bit of modifying lol. The Pacesetter ORY has the worst merge i've even seen in a y-pipe as well

If this is for a bolt on street car then I don't think it's worth the effort and cost.

I think the rasp really depends on your catback. A friend of mine has Pacesetter LTs, ORY and a Hooker and I think it's pretty raspy. I used to have the same setup but with my Magnaflow instead, no rasp at all.

Its a forged 355 heads cam ported intake and so on. That's the biggest reason I'm trying it. Motor shifts around 7k. Starts pulling real hard around 5800. So it likes to turn.

here are pictures of what SoxXpupPeT did to his Y pipe. Said it made a nice difference. I've yet had a chance to do it yet.

Quick Reply: pacesetter Y pipe merge point.
