Twin Turbo 4.8 Ferrari 308gt4 Project Pre-Startup Qs
Hey guys I have a 1976 Ferrari 308gt4 project I've been working on. The engine is fitted, the turbos are almost completely plumbed, and the PSI harness and computer are on the way. Im running a ls6 intake and injectors, twin turbos, and 180 degree headers I made. The engine is going to be mated to a Subaru transaxle in a mid engine longitudinal configuration. Im a Cummins guy and really don't know a lot in the LSX world. Im wondering if I can run the stock injectors for now (waste gates set to almost open) and a stock tune until I finish up the trans adapter and tidy up things. I really just wanaa hear how it sounds! I bought a single 255 walbro for now just to get it running. I really want to make sure everything is working like it should before I dump even more money into it. So basically is there any danger running the engine without tuning and injectors if its kept around 3-5psi and barely driven? I really just would be starting it and maybe moving it around the garage till i can get it tuned and run bigger injectors, springs. One last thing is what is the best way to run the fuel pump? lost on the hotwire thing? just run a relay to give the fuel pump full voltage constantly? thanks for any input. I've been trying to read up and downloaded the junkyard turbo diy turbo basics for lsx pdf.

You should be able to drive it around just fine without any boost if you keep your foot out it. Leave the spring out the wastegates and drive her around like normal, meaning, not romping, etc.

As long as you dont use any boost you should be fine. It's still a large V8, so you should be able to drive quite easily without going into positive pressure.

The 5spd Subarus really dont handle very much power, and most gearsets dont seem too great.
With the mid engine layout, lots of traction and torque.....the transmission is really going to be under a lot of pressure.
6speeds are much more robust, but I havent heard of them being used as a transaxle before.
