Default ABS Issue with slicks?

I had a problem at the track last week. At the end of every run when I stepped on the brakes my Low Trac light came on & the ABS solenoids would start clicking. The stock tires are 25.5" tall, and the QTPs are 26.1" tall. Not much difference, but at 110mph, I'm thinking it's enough to fool the PCM into thinking that back tires are sliding, because they aren't rotating as fast. I was NOT locking the tires up either. I took all of the track to stop.

Anyone ever encounter this & know how to fix it?

It's common. No fix necessary. It will go away when you change back to street tires. My Camaro did it all the time, but the Vette doesn't. Not sure why.

The only way to fix it, is to run front tires the same size as the rears or at least really close to it.

don't worry about... normal... I freaked too the first time it did it to me.. 26" nittos it's fine w/skinnies up front.. but w/slicks no good (the slicks expand so freaks the ABS system out)

Yeah, the only thing that even worries me about it is what happens if I need to nail the brakes at speed? Like if the guy I'm racing blows a tire & comes into my lane or something? Because I don't think I can stop very fast.....ya know?

The situation you discribe is correct behavior if it is correct that the rear slicks expand at speed. If you would like a technical explaination, I would be happy to do it when I have a little more time.

One way to help with stopping at the track with slicks is to disable the ABS. Beware though that you will have no proportioningbetween front and rear brakes if you do this. This can be accomplished by pulling the ABS fuse.

I work for Bosch, so if you have any other ABS/TCS questions, just ask.

I have been lurking for a little while on the board. Two kids (22 months and 7 weeks) doesn't give me much computer time.

Not a problem on the PM thing. I would be happy to help them out. Especially since they won't race angainst the team I am on. I am the crew chief for my friend on a Porsche 924 road racing team.
