Default Y pipe with a cutout OR True dual x pipe

What do you guys think will make more power?

Ive got a set of 1-3/4 headers that go to a y pipe-gutted cats and a qtp 3in cutout.

Do you guys think a true dual set up would make more power?

I've personally wondered if anyone could quantify this as there are times when I think about picking up a stock SS catback and just putting a cutout at the y-merge.

On the other hand, duals not only make power, but sound mean, too

The only way to find out would be to dyno the two set ups.

Reason that prompted this question is that i love being able to switch the car from loud to deafening within a matter of seconds-its great for racing-f*cks other peoples shifts up due to not being able to hear their car, and for when coming across the police.

But if duals make more power id probably switch over

Cutout + Y pipe = able to switch from quiet to loud
True duals = always loud but don't have an issue with rasp

Just bought a set of TSP TD's, got bored of my quiet car, can't wait to install them.

Ran pacesetters with magnaflow than switched to TSP duals dumped.

My car was waaaay louder and meaner sounding. I also felt it pull stronger. The throttle response was also noticeable.

I prefer duals over a catback.

How's the interior drone? I heard bad things but not too worried about it. Would I still be able to hear music? Even though the sound of TD's would be enough music for me lol.

+1 to this. I have the e-cutout after a flowmaster merge. Rasp not bad and picked up 10hp open on back to back dyno pulls (vs through the aerochamber).

Are these shorty headers with the stock Cats or full length?

The drone isnt bad at all. I noticed with duals that you hear alot of rattling inside. But the sound is worth it. With dynomax bullets you get a pure muscle sound exhaust that isnt raspy like most fbody catbacks.

I currently have tsp rumbler bullets and its actually alot quieter than dynomax bullets. Not really any drone, but does rattle though.

Good to know except for the rattling part but shouldn't be bad. Ya mine came with the rumbler bullets. Having them installed and adding a dyno tune to top of it in less then two weeks. Can't wait!!!!

True duals with dynomax bullets sounds amazing. Definitely something I will be doing when this car is not my daily driver

Do you have any before/after numbers?
