Default Who has gone from an F-Body to a C6 Vette?

So I've been thinking on this for years now. I've owned my 99 Z28 since 2002 when I was in high school and I have quite a bit invested in it. With the new 383 it puts 455hp down to the ground. That said, I've always wanted a Vette as my dad had one (I believe it was a 1958-1960). What I'm looking at is an 08ish if I could get any decent money out of my car. I really don't think that I could afford a Z06 as much as I love them. Has anyone gone from an Fbody to a C6? Would you do it again? Worth the money? Any advice? Thanks, Chris.

Gone from an 02 Z28 6 speed to an 03 Z06 (which most would choose over a base C6) Prices are in the very low 20s for a clean low mileage Z06. Its a night and day difference. I LOVE my Z06 and would not look back.

I had a F body for years, making int he 400s. then moved to a C6 Z51, cammed it and bolt ons too, then a GTO heads cam, then a C5Z heads cam, then another c5Z heads cam, and now my C6Z built.

The move is great, you will not look back, car is more refined, brakes, handels, rides better.

I love the C5Zs, but I think the C6 is a nicer car and just as fast... only reason to not go c6 over C5Z is money.

I went from an F-body to a C6 in a roundabout way though

My first F-body was a 95 Trans Am, then I bought a 98 Formula brand new in early 98. I traded that for a 97 GTP, then went backwards again and got a 95 Formula. After that I had a 98 Corvette for 9 years and then I finally got a 2005 Corvette after all that

I absolutely love my C6! It's a lot of fun to drive although I've got my eye on a C7 in a couple of years for sure

Wow, Patman! It's been years since I've seen you post here. Great to see your name pop up again, and congrats on the C6 (great color too)!

Did you keep the '98 C5 for your wife as once planned?

I got a notification on another thread here that I subscribed to, so I decided to check the site out again

I didn't keep the C5 as planned because I did not keep that wife! I traded her up for a much nicer model too!

Started with a 94 Camaro, 97 Camaro then 98. Then to 2007 C6, 2008 LS3 C6 and now a 2012 Z06. None come even close to this Z06! Had best et with the 98 Camaro but only because of the launch. This Z06 from 60 mph on is crazy fast.

Yes, good to see you post here Patman. Congratulations on the new model (wife)!

I did and won't be going back. I loved my Trans Am and want another one day but I wouldn't take it over my corvette or replace the vette for it. Both in the garage though will happen in the next couple of years.

I'm afraid to see what I'll be able to sell my z28 for. That may be the determining factor.

Not a C6, but sold my Camaro for a C5. I love it, no regrets, and no way I'd ever go back.

`99SS A4 to `02SS M6 to `13C6GS M6

I miss my `02 but there's no way I'd go back from the GS. The C6 is just in another league: better braking and handling, faster, quieter, and despite the GS' suspension the ride is even better.

C6 prices are coming down with the C7 out, so shop around. `08 has some nice updates - TR6060 replaced the T56, LS3 bumped power up over the LS2, and the interior got a few updates - but don't knock a LS2 model; it'll still be major upgrade from a f-body. I'd shoot for a Z51 optioned car, gives the C6 better gearing, brakes and suspension pieces.

1st camaro 74 LT, to 77 Bandit TA, to 83 Z28, then the (wife's 03 GT stang), finally got the Vette 2011 C6 GS and have really enjoyed it. It's fun to drive, runs hard for an auto and we do alot of cruising with our corvette club. Sold the stang and bought (2000 SS 6 sp to play LSX Challenge Series Racer).
Vette in the garage and ready to go for the weekend when it's nice weather out. The C7 is said to ride and handle and (perform) above and beyond the C6. You should be able to pick up a good used C5 or C6 for a reasonable price, just don't take the first one you find. Shop around and know the pricing for each, be savy and (buy from an individual). Stay away from the 2005 C6 M6 they have weak rear ends if you plan on doing any mods for racing. Goodluck finding what you want.

I went from a heads/cam/383/TH400/12bolt etc etc LT1 car to a C5Z06 and then a LS3 C6. Both vettes are way nicer than my fbody...The fbody was definitely faster in a straight line but the vette has the power and turns well too. The ride is also more refined overall a MUCH better vehicle.

Went from a stock 2001 Trans Am to a cammed C6Z and wow is all I had to say. Now I don't have either but I do have a new house. Would like to get another C6Z in the garage but I would like to knock this home loan out asap.
