Another 5.3 jy build question, what turbo/cam/stall/gear for 9's? Trying to help a buddy out, he's looking for 9's in a backhalved s10, should be fairly light with plenty of room for a tire.
Gonna be a street/strip toy with a few ambitions like everyone else, just trying to see where we should go with it.
So far we've got the 5.3 and a th400, looking to stay with stock 5.3 heads, ls6 intake, and whatever cam would work best. Considering E85, he isn't sold on it yet.
Been considering an s475/480, but would like to be able to comfortably be in the 9's, hopefully this isn't too lofty of a goal.
Thoughts/suggestions on turbo/cam/converter/gear to start with? Been looking around here and there but would like to get some input before we throw together a **** combo. Thanks in advance.

No trans brake yet, using a leftover th400 for the time being I believe. Big tire will be on it, by chance are there any similar builds/threads you have handy I could take a peak at? thanks

Think ls1 nova has it pretty much spot on mate. I'm also aiming for 9s, but putting together a slightly different combo. Iron 6.0 with L92s, s475 1.32ar, tick cam, ptc converter through a glide and probably 3.5 final. My biggest issue is gonna be leaf springs and a 275 tyre. Gonna run e85 as it seems to be a lot more forgiving while the tune is being sorted. Good luck

I managed 8's at what I'd assume is 400-500lbs less weight than you'll be without much motor wise. Just focus on your drivetrain and converter as said.
Cheapo S475 with a decent cam from of the vendors, e85, springs, MLS Hg's, and Studs. Should be cake!
