Wink UK LS1 owners. Assistence required.

Hi Guys,

I'm in Herts, UK and am trying to get my PCM scanned in order to pull of the VIN code. I need to know what year it was programmed as I'm thinking of buying an HP tuner. I purchased the engine as a crate engine for my kit-car.
Does anyone have a scan tool I could use or would anyone scan it for me.
Have you used anyone to tune your PCM?
Thanks,
Tom.

well do this. buy hptuner, then ask them to send you only the vcm scanner with no model year programmed in, send them back the calibration files then they can send you an updated version with your model year.

Its my understanding they can re-arrange the model year on the cable all day long but the scantool and such will still work? on any ls1 since its NOT LOCKED AT ALL

talk to the hptuners dudes they seem pretty open minded

Thumbs up

Great idea!

I did ask them if the could tell the programming year from the serial numbers. You would have thought they might have suggested your idea.
After all, I don't wan't to buy a scan tool to by the correct VCM with a scan tool!

Tom.
you may need to actually use the HPTUNER VCMFLASH to "GET VCM ID" i dunno if the other tools provide all the calibration #'s maybe enuff to guess.

if its a 98 well then your gonna be SOL but i think you can tell since the ecm part # is wrong and the wiring is quite different from the 99-02 ecm's.

As long as the PCM has power I can get the VIN. Once you get the vin the year is easy. Finding the right tuner is the hard part.
