1998 to '99+ PCM Change in Conversion Car
Just want to make sure I haven't missed anything and need some input. My friend has a '98 LS1 computer, harness, and engine in a '79 Trans Am. The PCM recently went out and I am having a hard time helping him find a new one. So I started thinking, since this is in a conversion car should I just go with a 99+ computer. After all the searching I have done, it sounds like since it is in a conversion car all I need to do is get a new 0411 PCM and repin the aftermarket harness. I shouldn't have to change out the ECT sensor or anything, should I? I know I will have to have the VATS tuned out, but is the slight head and cam difference between a stock '98 and '02 enough to merit a tune change? Thanks for any help.

You can go up to a 04 GTO 243 OS with a faster PCM and better diagnostics, etc. The pinouts are the same from 99 up. Also not that the newer PCM's have the egr tuned out which I would recommend. PM me and I can send you the spreadsheet for the repining.
