Default Ugh broke bolt installing new 4L60e valve body

Sheesh as the title states, installing a new valve body in an 02 4L60E. The center bolt snapped as I was torquing it down. Pretty sure I know the answer but I'm gonna ask anyway... do I have to take this thing back apart?

Wow, that is really bad luck.
Obviously you need to remove the valve body (VB) to see what the situations is; with better "luck" it might then be relatively easy to remove.
Are you sure you installed the different VB bolts in the correct position?
The ones closest to the center of the trans are the shortest ones.

The bolts are only torqued to 96 in/lbs which is 8 ft/lbs. I use a 1/4 torque wrench for the final tightening.

OMG that is the issue... I read it wrong, I read it as 96 lbs not 96 inches couldn't figure out why just getting it to 20lbs was so hard! Man do I feel like a moron!

Well, hopefully you can get the busted bolt out.
If you cannot find a replacement at your local hardware store or dealer, let me know as I have extra ones.
