Default drop k member/motor or rebuild through the top!?

hey guys, finally got all my new car parts together and ready to take on a heads, intake,tb, injectors, fuel pump install...i have a 02' fbody ws6 just wondering who out there has done head swaps with the motor still in the car and who has dropped the k member to work on her. I have access to a car lift just looking for any tips or advice on the best way to tackle the build...thanks guys!

If you don't mind doing alignment afterwards, then I recommend going through the bottom..

Of course a head/cam install with the engine in the car is easily doable though as well...

I did mine in the car over a weekend with a case of beer and a couple of cigars. And of course a good friend to help me drink the beer!

Easily doable in the car, but obviously out of the car is nicer! Enjoy!

I have always dropped it out the bottom. I like putting the transmission on the engine out side of the car, and then sticking the entire thing back in the car all at once.

x2

It doesn't take much to drop motor/trans, it'll let you clean and get everything installed a lot easier.

This. I dropped mine out the bottom in less than two hours using lift. Your back will thank you.

The lift just made this job way easier. Take your time, have a buddy help if possible it's not that that bad of a job... even the first time.

Like "liljay" said, it's a quick job once you do it once or twice.

There is a ton of pic's in my sig if you need some referance.
