X pipe vs Y pipe

The X-pipe will sound better and make more power, but that's only if you do it right with all mandrel bends; no muffler shop crush-bends.
The downside is that it can get really expensive. What I would do is put a larger Y-pipe merger(3" inlets/4" outlet) on the Y-pipe, run a 4" straight through muffler and dump it before the rear axle, or exit it out the side before the rear tire.
