well i have built 6 cummins, a duramax and multiple transmission, but this is my first time with a gas engine and its completly stumping me on how to build it right. I picked up a 94 lt1 from the local junk yard.

so far every thing looks like what i would look for in a good diesel engine. but i'm not sure i should even be looking for the same stuff

the plan is to put it in my 78 chevy nova in place of its 305



i am 21 and very inexperienced. i really look forward to learning a lot about this engine from everyone here

you will be well served in buying "How to Rebuild Small-Block Chevy LT-1/LT-4 Engines" by Mike Mavrigan

LT1/4 platform is a "reverse cooling" motor so harvesting the radiator (or buying one like it) from the donor car will help.

I converted my LT-1 to a carb/rear distrubutor motor for my 70 Nova with a T56

Im not looking for really high hp i wanna build a good track car with a mild turbo set up, as a 21 year old with low bills id say the budget is pretty good 5-6k if i need that much. Maybe some watermethonal if these engines respon well to it

I bought the how to rebuild book the day i bought the engine, along with the performance build book. Gotta love having summit racing right next to pick n pull
Unfortunantly the camaro was picked clean when i got to it

If you plan on boosting, plan on $5K for the motor with forged internals and head work. The stock crank will be fine though.

Thats about what i figured, just dont want to assume, and do lt1s respond well to forced induction, or watermethonal

Yes, as long as you have forged/dished blower pistons and a good tune, and fuel system. Oh yea, if a built turbo LT1 does not have "high HP" you are doing something very wrong!
