Default Considering HP Tuner Suite

I have no experience with LS1 Edit (other than looking over shoulders) and I would like to start using the new HP Tuner Suite.

Are there any resources for newbies, recommendations, cautions??

ls1tuning.com and the forums at hptuners.com are both pretty good. Just read alot before you start messing with stuff and keep all your tunes just incase you mess up.

There are basic things you can change that are fairly safe such as idle speed, shift points, gear adjustments, torque management, turn off codes for rear O2's and fan temps.

As for A/F. timing and rev limiters, you have to be careful. Adjust a little at a time and monitor your changes closely.

As already mentioned, LS1Tuning.com and the HP Tuners forum are great resources to start learning. There's no cut and dry way to tune and every car responds differently to changes. Learn what each table affects and go from there.

HP Tuners is a great product and worth every penny.

Do you mean like instructions? It has a basic help menu for how to read your pcm, but no, it doesn't have step by step instructions for tuning.

Where would you find info on what all the tables and screens actually do..

Even the acronyms are hard to understand.. VE, GmCyl, etc.

also read through this section ... there is so much useful info here it's amazing...

when I got LS1 Edit 2+ years ago there were no instructions... I learned everything from this forum (i'm still learning ... but I was really cautious w/it for the first several months I owned it ... even more so after I killed my PCM due to power loss during a flash I've recently switched to HP Tuners for both my TA AND my GTP and am loving it... I have no fears of flashing my PCM at a gas station while testing... hell... the other day I flashed my PCM while stopped at a stop light heh)

It just takes time... if you enjoy learning new things and learning how various parts of your car operate... you'll do just fine...
