Default Tranny Removed, now some troubleshooting help

Original Issue.

Difficulty shifting into 6th, then 5th and 6th. (few days) Then became stuck in 4th. No grinding or metal breakage sounds heard on way home. Was very very hard getting it into neutral when I got home.

Had plenty of trans fluid, no metal shavings came out when I checked, and again no sounds of metal inside trans being destroyed. Clutch pedal needed to go all the way to floor to shift for a little while now. Plenty of fluid in reservoir. Tranny and related clutch components never been replaced. All stock. (2002 Z28)

Tranny is now removed, so.....what are my troubleshooting options? Where to start now? Anything obvious I should look for, slave, etc. Im not overly familiar with transmissions, so Im not sure what to look for now. Thank you all.

Sounds like the shift keys broke. Common problem on them, usually replace them with billet keys. Will require a full teardown, but it isn't particularly hard to do. Plenty of write ups on how to do it.
