Default Spark Plug wires arcing? Help on header install?

So I think my spark plug wires are arcing to the block maybe? When I start the car I hear a popping sound, and the idle fluctuates along with the oil pressure, and the battery gauge.

Is their some type of tape I can wrap around them, to stop it from arcing? I am doing a header install in a few days (waiting on shipping) so I can move them or wrap them up.

Also, on the header install, anything special I will need?

They shouldn't be arcing through the boots. Check your wires for crack or anything. Then buy some fiberglass heat boots for the wires.

I hope their not on drugs! But these are new 10.5mm wires, so I hope their not cracked, ill check though, and could they arc through the wire itself?

Ahh yes, junk ebay wires (sorry!)

You'll need to get a better set of wires. ACDelco wire set number 9718G is for your car. Search the internet-they run between 50 and 60 bucks a set.

Got em. Got em.

Guess the ones I got will have to do until I get my next paycheck.

Those wires were just a spur of the moment thing, when we pulled the motor we tore 3 of them in half...so those will be on the list of parts. Got to hunt down an oil leak now though...

Good choice!

Until you get them, don't run that engine too hard, arcing & missfireing at the wrong time can damage the engine.

FWIW, if your on a budget, JEGS makes some decent 8.5mm wires for LT1's for under $45.

One time I had to push my car 1/2 mile home in the rain because it wouldn't even run with the wires arcing so bad right now I have fire pro's on it.
