Default How to remove crank balancer

Trying to remove the old opti and need to pull the balancer. I've heard not to use a puller? What do y'all recommend. Also do I need to mark anything for when I put it back on?

Use a puller, if needed. No need to mark anything. It can only go on one way. The spokes are not symmetrical.

Ok cool thanks shbox. Is there any special puller or just a reg one. I heard the damper can be damaged

The "damper" is held to the "hub" by 3 bolts. Remove the 3 bolts, and the balancer should release itself from the hub, giving you the clearance you need. As "shbox" said, the bolt pattern isn't symmetrical, so it will go back on only one way.

Just use one capable of what the picture shows. Nothing will be damaged if done like the pic. You just don't want to grab on the outside ring. That is what can cause damage. Sometimes they come off without a puller.
