Default engine upgrades to run turbo?

Looking at getting into a turbo setup. Nothing crazy but I'm wondering if I need to upgrade any internals etc to run a low boost turbo setup.

Do you need to? No.

Is it a good idea? Sure.

Depends really how low of a boost you run and how reliable you want it to be.

Yea just looking for suggestions so I can know how much cash I'm looking at investing. I was thinking 8 or 9 pounds of boost. I'm thinking 450 at the wheels would be pretty awesome.

im in the same boat as you 7-9 lbs on a stock shortblock. i just got some 317s and valve springs to help/lower compression to survive. lots of ppl are running stock shortblocks and doing ok. but you will need lots of small things its not just buy a turbo kit and slap on...

For that power you wont need forged internals. Unless you want to be safe and later on push more lbs.
