Default Sux2bu intake

Hey folks been doing a little bit of reading about building a sux2bu style intake. However, I cant seem to tell from the pictures if it can be done while retaining A/C? I was planning on using 3 inch hose instead of the 4inch and building the tray out of fiberglass. I would also like to stay away from cutting the support if possible. Thanks in advance
