Default Oil pan gasket problem

So I replaced my pan gasket and I didnt even put oil in it and I see some oil seepage at the rear of the pan gasket. I cleaned the surfaces thoroughly and its leaking from the same spot.

Gonna drop the pan/gasket and reclean it all then do it again. If it still seeps, whats my problem? Pan?

Thats odd, are you sure it isnt coming from somewhere else like the Rear main seal or anything else? If you dont have oil in it i dont see how it could leak unless you had some residual somewhere maybe in the bolt hole threads that you didnt get clean.

If it's leaking and you didn't start it, keep looking. See if you find oil at the back of the block just under the intake or at the rear of the valve covers.

confirm the leak is FROM the pan and not somewhere else

rear intake
RMS
RMS adapter plate

putting dye in oil and looking for leaks with blacklight if you can't see the leak source helps

when I put pan gaskets on I run RTV corner to corner front & back

What gasket and pan are you using? When I installed my Canton pan on my new engine I used the Canton gasket they recommended and had a bunch of leaks. I replaced the gasket with a Felpro unit (the blue one you can get from any NAPA store) and did the RTV as ****** described and haven't had drop of oil on my garage floor ever since.

Be sure it isn't the back of the intake. Oil would seep into my bellhousing and make it look like a RMS leak was flinging oil all over the back of the block.

Car is still up and went under to look and saw oil dripping off the crankshaft. Back of intake/valve covers felt dry no oil residue.

Rear main seal?
