Stock bracket and F1R just doesn't go together, personally, I think the twin 3.5" intercoolers are going to be a massive restriction as well.

I agree.... if we run into belt slip we will upgrade to the aster.... if the meth cant keep iat in check ill build a fmic.... however for what its worth I was running the standard ati 8 rib with an f1r at 16psi without any belt slip.... we will see what happens.... the goal is 1000whp and hurt some feeling at the track and street...

Got anymore pics of the exhaust set up? I always thought that would be a wicked looking set up with a big oval pipe slashed cut to the sides.

What pulley combo were you running before to get 16psi with the R? What size engine?

Ill post pics of the boomtubes as the build continues. .

I was running 7.65/4.85 pulley combo on a 02 ls1 with a blower cam seeing 16psi at 7000rpm.

Rite on. With that pulley set up, I could see you not really having to many belt issues at that PSI. Especially on a stock, cam only engine. I bet on this 408 with those heads, that same pulley combo would see around 10psi@7K.

Looking forward to the pics and progress!

I'm looking forward to seeing how well this works out as well. I never realized how expensive the Aster bracket was until I looked it up the other day. I bet you're hoping you won't need it.

Aster's bracket really isn't that expensive. Look at the cost of a stock "J" bracket, add in the cost of a LS2 water pump, which is a good upgrade over a stock one, and you'll see it's about a $100 or so upgrade. I know, I did the math when I put my setup together. I pieced it toghether, and the cost of doing Aster's bracket vs. a stock bracket with an 8-rib upgrade and getting a water pump, it wasn't much difference.

Youre more then welcome to come by the house and we can test fit the f1r on your car. . shoot me a pm we can iron out the details. .

BTLBABY.. im definitely not going to run a 4.85 on this setup. . I've got a 4.0 on it right now. .. but also have a 3.85 and a 4.25 ...

Alchamist is right. .. aster is really not that expensive at all.. im just curious to see if I can make this work before jumping on the aster/cbr bandwagon..

Yeah, I didn't figure you would be. Just pointing out the smaller engine is easier to make that boost number than the 408 will be. I really think y'all will be fighting slip to get any decent amount of boost. Guess time will tell! Keep us posted!

Aster needs to see what needs to happen to run a 12 rib setup like the 5th gen camaro guys have. That would be kickass for running the F1-R to F1-X. I'm guessing it would mean spacing out the blower from the block, and getting wider pullies for everything, but in theory it would work.

It would be awesome to be able to run a 12 rib, I just don't see it being able to happen with out modification of the radiator and/or lower radiator support.

Even with my SDCE set up spaced out a little over a 1/4", I have a hard time getting my inlet hat on with the radiator in the factory location. I bet the 12 rib is easily another 1/2-3/4" more spacing than the SDCE. Does anyone know what the actual difference in width is in the 8 to 12 rib?
