Default Chevy newbie

Let me start out by saying I cut my teeth on mustangs and ford products.. but lately this Chevy stuff has been looking quite interesting. I'm looking to power my new project

http://www.locostusa.com/forums/view...p?f=39&t=16162

and had picked out a 94 roller 351w with 650 carb AFR 185 heads, Edelbrock RPM intake etc.. but then I saw you can get an aluminum production block from the salvage yard and build almost 400hp using factory Chevy parts. Well I'm here to learn. Ive got a start on building something, 5.3 crank and rods 4.8 pistons just need a l33 or lm4 aluminum block. I should have know this would happen one day with my grandfather diehard Ford and my Dad 100% Chevy.
