Default stroker kit?

hey everyone, i have afew questions. What exactly does a stroker kit do? does it give you more power or does it just strengthen the motor? I am trying to figure out if i should put 1 in my 4.6l dohc 2004 mach 1. ( i do have a 2002 slp firehawk to , so dont hate me for havin a mach, lol). if it does increse the power how much does it increase? what r the advantages and disadvantages of getting bigger stroker kits and of getting them at all. thanks everyone

A stroker kit will give you more power(You will see an increase in H.P and T.Q numbers, appx. range would be from 425RWHP to 500RWHP all motor)...A good rule of thumb is that a stroker motor will give you nice torque while an all bore motor is better for peak H.P...If you get forged inernals(Pistons, connecting rods, and crank) then the parts are less likely to fail...It all depends on which one you get...As for the LS1 you have a stock cubic displacement of 346ci in with an appx. 3.6 inch stroke(the stroke of a motor is the distance that the piston in a cylinder travels up and down..."Typically," most LS1 owners go with:

382ci. using stock 3.898in bore, 4.0in. stroke
383ci. honing the cylinder out to 3.903in, 4.0in. stroke
395ci. honing the cylinder out to 3.903in, 4.125in. stroke
408ci. will require a larger bore diameter of 4.030in

I hope this helps you out...I don't know that much about the 281 but hopefully this gets you on the right track...

You better start looking at the firehawk cause the mach would be very expensive to stroke. Also adding cubic inches means you need all the other parts such as heads, intake, headers, etc. etc. Strokers are fun, and as far as mileage is concerned, it will probablly be better because your set-up will be able to move air more efficentlly. Considering you keep your foot out of it.

yes i mean a blower (s/c). a strocker kit will end up costing you a hell of alot more then 2k when its said and done i'll tell you that. block work, assembly, balancing, h/c, tuning, **** adds up.

with a choice of stroker, s/c, and turbo the blower is the most economical and effiecient (relative) setup.

You're definately on the wrong site. Check these out if you're looking for Mustang information:

www.ford-power.com
www.stangnet.com
www.corral.net
www.svtperformance.com

The only real way to make those Mod-Motors go fast is to build 'em and boost 'em. The down-side to that is that by the time you get done building the motor, buying the blower setup, buying the fuel system, buying a real engine management system, and paying for install/tuning, you'll realize that you could be going just as fast for a lot cheaper.
