Bad head gasket meaning possible water in cyl? If so pulling the heads to be sure of no rust would probably be a good idea and help with the sale.

It's from a 2002 silverado, I'm not pulling the heads the car ran when I pulled the motor just the head gasket is gone and it hasn't been sitting for long but ya if I were to buy it I would take them off and clean it up

They didn't put a LQ9 on a 02 Silverado. It would a LQ4.

Lq4 did not stop in 2000. Lq4 and Lq9 share the same heads. Lq4 has dished pistons and the Lq9 has flat top pistons.

Pull the spark plugs out and rotate the crank pulley to try and push the water out of the spark plug holes. Than drain the oil. No need to pull the heads to get the water out if your just trying to sell the motor. Let the buyer pull the heads when it gets rebuilt. But definitely pull plugs and drain oil.
