C6Z vs C6 SC'd?
I'm still looking for a vette and now have two cars that I'm considering - one is listed on here, 2006 C6 3LT with a MP112 Maggie - black, SC hood, non-Z51, only 32k miles, located about a million miles from me. Or there's an '06 C6Z that's only half a million miles away (but right where my mom lives conveniently) - looks bone stock (78k miles~) and silver in colour (color for the rest of you ).
Stock Z06 with higher miles vs SC'd low mileage C6.
Thoughts, comments, opinions welcome.

id go with the c6z , i dont like the looks of the c6 . I would never own one , it has to be a z . So that would be my choice.
Havent found any lower mile ones than that . at 78k

Well...the Z06 is a better car out of the box. Do you plan body mods, brake mods? Anything that the Z06 comes with stock? Cause, if you wanna go wide body....then just go with the Z06.
Only thing I would do is look into the valvetrain...if they're original, I would change the valves....other then that, Z06 hands down.
The Z06, is a very well rounded, all around car...perhaps one of the best ever made. Just needs coilovers, long tube headers, a camshaft and valvetrain..... and you would have a hell of a machine.

I definitely don't see myself doing body mods (wide fenders etc) to something I'd buy, no faith in colour matchingor quality of body work where I live as sad as that is. Brake upgrade is a possibility but unlikely generally speaking. I'm more of a bolt ons, maybe heads/cam guy myself. Both of these cars are near the top end of my budget so mods won't happen in the first year - not sure how much there is to do to the sc'd car as it is if I get that one. Plus 500rwhp 'should' be plenty lol

Id go C6 Z06. Like the other guys said, its a better car from the get go. Plus you got the 427, and its only a half a million miles away
The MP112 Maggie SC on the C6 is a very small supercharger and is known for heat soak which will cause performance to suffer. Id stay away from that.

Thanks for the honest opinions guys - the C6Z looks to be coming out ahead - sent an email to the seller who ironically used to be my boss at the dealership the car is for sale with. Fingers crossed.

A Z is an animal. Regular c6 insurance is a tad cheaper. I wanted less up front spent in a toy and I couldn't find a nice lower mile z06 under $40k. So I bought a 09. I plan to do FI.

Coming from someone who had a 2006 Z51 coupe and jumped ship to a Z06, there's no question I would get the Z06. The Z06 is an all around much better car. If you keep it stock, get an extended warranty if possible. Otherwise, be sure to have the valve guides checked.

I found an '06 C6Z - has about 84k miles on it (Canadian Car, so 135k km's).
Other than the valve train concerns that these have (I'd assume if there was an issue it'd have happened by now) is there anything else to look at on a higher miles Z06?
*as a side note I don't think an 8yr old car with 84k is high, but likely is perceived as high for a performance car?*

I too vote for the C6Z... They are great cars out of the box... however, as others have said... valves, springs, perhaps a little machining of the heads would be nice. I would definitely upgrade valvetrain at a minimum.
On the other hand, if you are wanting to go FI... The LS3 in the GS is a nice combo....
JMO....
