GMMG or Hooker exhaust for a daily driver?
Looking for a new exhaust system for my bone stock 2002 Z28. No head or cam changes in the future. I may get LT's way down the road but not even sure on that right now.
My main concern is i still want to be able to drive the car comfortably on a daily basis. I hate drone and interior resonance and i am worried the GMMG will induce that. Havent really seen any good reviews focused on that. They mainly focus on rasp with ORY. I dont mind a good sounding exhaust and a pleasant exhaust tone. I have that in all of my other cars (08 Vette with NPP, 01 Vette with Corsa Sport, and an 07 Tahoe with GM performance) and enjoy it.
Open to any and all input here. The GMMG seems to have a great tone and sound which is why i prefer it but i am not opposed to something else if it is a better solution. Thanks for the input!

Borla with an electric cutout inplace of the plates. That way you can make it as loud with the cutout open or quiet it down when you close it. Best catback you can buy for an Fbody.

Since it seem like you're just looking for a better exhaust tone have you consider just doing a muffler swap, if the factory exhaust (cat-back) is in good or better condition ?
FYI, You can have a lot of possible muffler options going this route.

You have about 4 good options going this route if you want to stick with dual outlet mufflers, Hooker Aero Chamber #21729HKR , Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded # 17227, Magnaflow #12267, Borla ProXS #40474 . Or 3" single in/out, Hooker, Borla, Magnaflo, Dynomax, QTP, and that's just for starters, because within those brands you have several different models and different case lengths, oval and round mufflers.

Gmmg exhaust
I have a 2000 ss m6 not my dd but I spend as much time in it as I can and the gmmg exhaust sound was an awesome sound when only mod was the slp air lid even better if it's stock car. I didn't have the CME but the oval tipped dual. Not gonna annoy anyone it's a great tone. With those two mods it had good stock numbers. 320rwhp 335tq. It was a bit tricky after 224/228 114lsa cam install because I also had ARH LT's install even with the catted y so I put in a chambered pipe in place of the I-pipe and took care of a lot of the raspiness because I also had my limits on my car's exhaust. Love the gmmg! Try researching video clips here or YouTube. And after the OCMD cruise last weekend, yeah my car isn't even that loud.

I agree on GMMG being a perfect exhaust with stock manifolds. I now have LT's and it has terrible drone at certain RPMs. I am doing a cam swap soon and havent figured out which way I want to go with my exhaust

Thanks for the input guys. For me, in reality, headers are probably 5 years down the road if at all. Sounds like the GMMG would be a good choice for now. Could always sell it down the road if i make any changes.

My car had GMMG on it when I bought the thing... otherwise it was basically stock. The catback sounded good but it droned too much for me. Reminded me of the old SLP LM days. I liked it at first but it got old even on a stock motor and stock manifolds/Y. It all depends on the person I guess. Right now I have SLP dual/dual and while it is dramatically quieter, it still has an awesome smoooooth tone. To me it is perfect. I couldn't ask for anything better. And when I do headers, this catback won't get dramatically louder like some others... GMMG for instance.

Compared to true duals, the drone is almost non existent with the GMMG especially on with stock manifolds and cats. On a scale of 1-10 being 10 the worst. True duals would be a 10, the GMMG about a 1. It ain't bad and these aren't Camry's we're driving.

The only way you would have drone problems is if your car is geared extremely high and you run 2500 to 3000 rpm on the highway.
