Default Oil pan gasket starts leaking as soon as I put oil in my 4L80E

As soon as I put oil in the tranny, it starts leaking through oil pan gasket (new) real bad.
Should the oil level go above that gasket at all? I think I didn't overfill though...
I also noticed that my oil pan mating surface is not flat, looks like spots around bolt holes are stretched, is that OK?
Thanks!

Are you using a cork gasket or a different transmission pan gasket? If you are using a cork gasket it is probably overtightened but they are junk anyways. I would definitely recommend using anything besides a cork gasket because they leak easily and are prone to doing so.

No. Get an OEM style gasket. Flatten the pan rail bolt holes out.

The one I reused was cork, and after reassemling tranny it leaked some. Then I got some Duraprene but it was hard as wood and leaked immediately.
I've flattened pan surface as far as I could and will get another cork tomorrow.
Main question is, is this pan gasket under oil level or not? I guess so but need confirmation. Maybe I'm overfilling badly and thus pan gasket leaks?

The OEM material is not Cork. Its a black Fiber material and is reusable until it leaks.

Cork will leak and especially if you over tighten it.

The pan may be over fill when the vehicle is not running. While running most likely it will be under the pan rail.

the level is right around where the pan meets the case, maybe a little higher, esp if the converter drains back a little after sitting
get the stock GM gasket, they can be reused many times
if the steel pan is not flat, it will leak-if the area around the holes is raised due to over tightening, support the pan and knock them down level
if the pan is to bad, replace it

I've flattened the pan mating surface to less than .006". Now, oil is leaking on it through electrical plug. I will take the pan off again and see what can be done to the plug... Only then will I know how is the gasket holding
