LS1 vs 5.0 Coyote

LS1 vs 5.0 Coyote I have a kill story. I don't have a video to prove this but here it goes. So I was on the freeway this past moday night. I noticed a car behind me keeps pulling up to me. Car gets on the left lane right next to me, and there it was a newer style 11-14 5.0. I know it was a 5.0 Coyote because it had the 5.0 badge on the fender and the body style. He obviously wanted to play. We get even like at 65mph. I put it in 4th. He gets a little jump I follow right away. As we get to like 100 I start pulling slowly on him. We did similar rolls of 50-65mph like 4 times and i beat him in all 4. We would stay even at the take off but I would pull away. Another guy in a 2014 Camaro SS joins in later too and he gets beat too. I was sure I was going get beat by the 5.0 but the outcome surpised me. I told a few friends and they dont believe me. My car is a 00 Formula M6 with pacesetter longtube headers, offroad y-pipe, ls6 intake, Slp lid, ported and polished tb, and tuned by Frost. I seen races on youtube of ls1 vs new 5.0. Sometimes the ls1 wins sometimes it looses. Has anyone here recently raced a new style 5.0 with their bolt on ls1?

Your car does probably run good. You have the 00 LS1 cam & the LS6 manifold. My 01 with about the same mods lost to a loud 5.0. Not terrible but he had the edge.

I think the power to weight ratio is on my side. My car weights 3330lbs and makes 348rwhp. Stock 5.0s weight 3605 and make 420 bhp which is anywhere from 360-375rwhp from dyno's i seen posted.

Sounds about right to me and believable. I too finally got a race in with a new coyote on the turnpike and he was only able to pull me by like a car up to 130mph. We started around 60mph and were pretty much dead even off the hit but he slowly pulled the faster we went. My cars stock and i assume his was too but he had a passenger while i didnt, so if you got bolt ons i can see you beating him I guess.

I remember having to explain this stuff to some mustang fanboys when the first 5th gen Camaros released with a v6 that could hold it's own against a v8 mustang.
the 4.6 has been and always will be a heavy as piece of crap motor, the 5th Camaros forced ford to revamp there engine options.

well of course, that old 4.6 V8 was total crap, hell the average mid 90s honda could beat it off the line and hold the lead till about 50-60 MPH.
I remember having to explain this stuff to some mustang fanboys when the first 5th gen Camaros released with a v6 that could hold it's own against a v8 mustang.
the 4.6 has been and always will be a heavy as piece of crap motor, the 5th Camaros forced ford to revamp there engine options.

Just kidding, I know this is a LS1 thread.I will say this. My T/A is quicker but the 5 speed in the GT makes it a fun car to drive. It isn't exactly slow. 0-60 is 5.1 seconds. The 5.0L Coyote is indeed a beast, even stock. Too bad the 6 speed trannys are made in China

You sure it was 4th gear? Seems a bit high to hang with a 5.0 from that speed unless he didn't drop enough gear either. Did I miss that you had gears?
