Default 1991-96 4L80E to LS engine

I hear the bell housing is different on the 96-older 4L80E. Will it mate up to my LS engine just the same?
Not sure if I should pay for the difference for a newer core(97-newer).
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

It will work just fine and in fact I would recommend those years for the slightly stronger OD roller clutch.

You won't have the 12 o' clock bell housing bolt hole, but everyone hates that bolt anyways and it would be just like putting in a TH400 or a TH350 etc that has been done by thousands of people for years.
