I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at. I've never used prussian blue, I can't tell if I'm supposed to read the shadows, or the really light stuff. You might need a stronger pattern. Either add some resistance (hold onto the yoke while spinning the axle) or run it through multiple revolutions.

Also, that's the coast side, what does the drive side look like?

Oh..didn't see the 2nd post. The drive side looks pretty good, but I'm not sure if that's too toed in or not. The depth looks pretty spot on.

It looks good to me too. I'd like to see a little more than .006 though. There is a little sway in the retainer keepers if you cheat it a little on both sides. I think it might go a little more. That being said the, pattern looks god as is.

So what would you think is a little more then .006? Should I try to cheat it to .008? Or would .010 be ok?

I'd try for the .008 but your pattern is good. I'd rather have to go back and tighten it up if needed than be on the bottom of the tight. I have done a lot of gear set ups for a non professional and have always had good luck leaning to the loose end rather than too tight.

I am not an expert nor do it everyday. More like one every 18 months or less.

I don't want you thinking I am some kind of Differential Doctor!

Typing at the same time. If it was mine, I'd try it right there.

Your pattern looks every bit as good as the one I finished today.

May we both have no Clunk nor Howl...Amen!

Talking

007fj thanks for the feed back. I am just looking for a little advice from someone that's done a few of these which you gave me. I thought my first pattern was good and also thought I should be at the .008 so you just confirmed my own opinion thanks!

I would add .002 depth and run the backlash at .008-.010

When you say add depth you mean remove .002 for the shims?
