Default How fast have you been on a stock short block?

The stock cube sticky is updated about once a year, so I figure I would start something fresh here. My combo consisted of a stock bottom end LS2, ported 243 cylinder heads, and a little bitty off the shelf comp grind. 1-3/4" headers, 3" FULL exhaust with chambered mufflers. At 2800 LBS, it's been 5.50's @ 128 on radials. It's only been an 8.90 in the 1/4 due to running out of gear before the stripe. It's been a 9.80 on a true street radial tire (pep boys futura).

Tune-up was a cross bar plate. Never had a wide band on the car. Tuned by plugs only.
52n
43f
5psi fuel pressure
.157 nitrous solenoid
21 degrees total timing
900 bottle at the start of run

9.92 @ 134 cam only on a 150shot car weighs 3400lb speed Inc si5 cam and a nos 78 mm plate kit.

I forgot to mention. Car has a th400 with a trans brake. Converter was an off the shelf junk I got from my cousin to use to get info for my converter guy to build me one for my combo and just to get the car out and have fun. This converter let go on the following pass from my personal best... new converter is in now. Just really don't have time to go to the track and try it out right now

No it's a cross bar plate, so there are two nitrous and two fuel jets, one nitrous and one fuel solenoid. I would say that it's around 200hp or so. Fbody chassis, stock suspension.

I'm more impressed with the 2800lb race weight of your stock suspension F-body, than the nitrous result. Lol!! Not to detour too far but you have a build thread for the car?

I only ran 11.4 on a completely stock LS1 and 150 shot, hoping for a lot better with new combo.

The drag race calculator says 800 HP for a 5.50 @ 128. That is making some serious steam. According to the calculator, that is exactly 100 HP more than I am with a single 81 jet. Most impressive.

I think that hp number is somewhere in the ball park. The biggest thing is the overall set-up of the car and converter is what makes it run so well. I think people focus too much on making power and not how to effectively apply the power.

Can you share with us the details of your converter and your target trap RPM if you change your rear gear to optimize for the quarter mile?
