Is your trans built? I don't see a reason to run a second kit just progress the first kit. I would suggest a good camshaft and you will go 10.7 on the same size shot. I don't see you gaining a lot more on the stock camshaft unless you can dead hook it out of the hole

No I wasn't. I assume he is on the stock bottom end since it was never mentioned otherewise. With that said he's at the mercy of the stock internals long before the cam is maxed out

That just doesn't make sense. Lets say your goal is 650whp.. Do you feel the engine will last just as long with the stock cam & heads and a 350-400 shot or sbe with milled trickflow's, Super Vic, 4150, killer camshaft, and 175 shot? On top of that the stock crammed engine will never make the 650whp no matter how much you spray it with.

Has long has it's tuned properly the bottem end should hold up on a 150-200 shot.

I absolutely agree with you on that statement, but the way I interpreted what the op was saying was he was more concerned about the stock cam limitations on the stock block. With that said I was simply saying that the stock bottom end will be the issue long before the cam...stock or not. So you're saying it's not possible to make 650 hp on the stock cam? Am I understanding that right? If so then I'd have to disagree since there have been more than a few stock cammed LS1'S making that power with forced induction

Not at all. We have made a little over 700whp with a m6 turbo car with a stock ls1. With a normal raced stalled auto I don't see a bolt on ls1 putting down 650whp and if it does it won't happen more than a few times. We're as a nice head cam car can last years. After thinking about it I'm not sure a stock cammed ls1 could make 650whp thru a stalled auto. A stock cam can only flow so much air and nitrous without boost.

I would tend to agree with Dynospeed here in the Fact that the Stock Bottem end LS1's have been known to handle 650-750 hp, and a stock cam shaft is only going to allow so much cylinder filling in any situation the Stock cam would be more of the Limiting Factor. The question then Becomes at what Nitrous level are you just over charging the intake and wasting you Spray. Valve events limit the Heads ability to flow air and fill the Cylinders so yes a Supercharged or Turbo Charged motor would build more hp over a nitrous motor with a stock cam as Nitrous creates its own atmosphere once combined with Fuel in the Cylinder it is much more limited by the valve events than the Turbo, or Supercharger is because they both increase flow and pressure in the manifold allowing more air/fuel to be pushed pass the valves and not be as dependent on the cams valve events to promote port velocity and cylinder filling.

Quick Reply: safe nitrous limit with stock ls1 cam
