LS swap IROC vs 07 GT500 who will win?
I have an 86 IROC with a LS swap. Well there is a friend a work that has an 07 GT500 that has challenged me to a race. We will be running at a track once my rear end comes in (1 week). He hasnt had the car on the dyno or at a track, but from what other cars with similar mods have he estimates he will be around 550 rwhp. Do you think I have a chance? The car mods are as follow:
GT500 mods
Full exhaust with long tube headers
tune
K&N filter and intake tube
lowered
86 IROC
LS1 swap
VRX4 cam
4l60e w/ Yank 3600SS
LCA
Panhard Bar
longtubes with magnaflow
Best 11.62 @117 368 rwhp (unlocked)
new additons
TFS 215
FAST 102/102
MWC 9" 3.70 gears
478 rwhp (locked) made a few passes, but due to traction problems i actually ran worse but was able to trap at 123mph. I ditched the 555r's and have a new set of NT05r's to see how they will do.

that gt500 guy is way off on his power guesstimate...with those mods he's around 450whp...sounds like he dont know what hes talkin about so he probably cant shift a manual if his life depends on it...u WILL win easily

I dont think he really knows how to drive the car. He said he is going to leave the traction control on to avoid spinning, but I have never heard of anyone leaving the traction control on at the track. Also, he said that he should have gained about 60 rwhp just from the long tube headers. Is that accurate? It seems extremly high gains for just exhaust. Either way, the stakes are that the loser will buy steak and lobster dinner, pay for a tank of gas, track fee, and have as a desktop image the picture of the rear of the winners car. I will let you know how it turns out and post the video.

I can't believe he didn't pulley it: that should be first among the first mod any GT500/Cobra does. Honestly it sounds like your friend is gonna be lucky to run low 12's, will most likely run high 12's to maybe even low 13's... and you will feel sorry for him and let him out of his bet. <<<< DON'T DO IT!!!! Make him pay up for his ignorance. Trust me, I've let guys out of bets before because they were so horribly beat that it didn't seem fair. Never again.
