Default Need help with LQ4 6.0 combo options

Hi. Doing a LS swap into a 1981 G body 2dr malibu. Already have the eng(2001 LQ4 6.0 complete with computer and harness). rear end is built with auburn posi,4.10 gears, moser axles, and c-clip eliminators, have turbo 400 trans with street/strip rebuild, and am going with 2800-3000 stall. I plan on staying with stock short block as far as pistons,crank/stroke etc. would like to keep 317 casting heads due to bigger valves but chambers are 72cc instead of 68 or 64cc. couple of my questions are.... can I mill heads down to increase compression for that block as long as lift isn't too high. Plan on using LS2 stg 2 cam with .551 lift and 224-230 duration @.050. Second question is on intake. Can I get any respectable HP out of OE truck intake if it's ported/cleaned up or should I just replace, even if I use ported throttle body? I read somewhere they're good for mid range torque but not high rpm HP. Will most likely end up with 100-150hp nitrous plate on this eng to get around 600hp and in 10 sec range. Any suggestions much appreciated

So I take it there's no help here??? I must have been wrong in thinking this is a good place to gain knowledge and some friends from people having something in common with. Guess I'll ask my local Wal-mart greeter. Must be a click thing!!!!!!!!!!

Default Give it some time

Figure somewhere around 1cc per .006 removed. If your budget allows it, a set of 243/799 and those milled would be a better way to go. If you can get around state smog requirements increasing compression is a good inexpensive way to increase torque, makes a bigger camshaft more streetable. LS6 intake or better is worth the money, truck intakes are overrated and present hood clearance issues although they look cool when they are sculpted smooth.

The OE truck intake is not ideal in my experience. My motor fell flat at 4k RPMs with it. I replaced it with a ported LSXRT (properly tuned) and gained everywhere, especially above 4k.

Thanks. I'm gonna try out the Professional Products Typhoon manifold, throttle body and fuel rail combo I found. The $$ is right and with a LS6 or ZO6 cam and 100hp shot it should work well. Next is getting parts for TH400 to fit behind it along with crossmember

Thanks but I already bought other combo. can't see paying $1k for an intake and people that have LS2/LS6 intakes think they're made of gold. For same money I got combo with intake,TB,fual rail, and all gaskets. Worth a try
