4l65e lost all gears then came back
So I had my gto with a tci in it. It was the $$ one with anti ballooning plates and all. It still took a dump on me. Lockup started acting up. Then one day cruising it just started free revving in drive. Pulled over and let it sit for 15 min n came back to life for a mile. Had no forward or reverse. I assume it was all the debris clogging the filter and after letting it sit it would settle and allow it to move briefly.
Got a rebuilt kit from pro-built and an edge converter they spec'd. My friend put it together who is a GM trans tech. He put it all together and took it out. Car drove great for about 10 min and then same thing with suddenly losing all gears but will come back after sitting. Luckily he was less than a mile from the shop when it happened.
It's a brand new rebuilt trans and brand new converter. Any ideas here?
Has the big b&m 24ton cooler on it too.

I was thinking it came back after all the sentiment settled from blocking flow through the filter. But I don't know why there would be trash in my fresh built trans. Has a cooler and had been on 100 mile drives prior without issue.

Ended up being the filter had collapsed on itself. Make sure you use nothing but GM filters. Lesson learned. The supplied filter wouldn't fit so one from advance auto was used. Never again.
