Default stock LS1 Formula, converter decisions

Converter decisions on a 2001 Firebird. Stock LS1 motor, longtubes, and 3.23 gears. Currently has a Precision Vigilante 3600 that needs a rebuild to cost about $400 after shipping. With the Precision converter it did about 1.75 60', 12.3@109. I realize it's an $800 converter. I'm wondering if the Circle D 3200 stall for $400 new, would do as good? I've read good things here about Circle D and great service, that has me thinking about the switch.

If you are looking for a tighter DD converter then our 278mm 3200 is a good choice. But you will loose some ET at the track compared to a 245mm 3600. So it depends on how aggressive you drive and what you are looking for.

Sure don't want to lose performance, so a rebuild is probably the best choice for the money. If we buy another new one, we'll give you a call for sure. Thanks

I agree, and ready when you are for the next one.
