Drag Racing Tech - New times---->THUNDER CAM ROCKS!!!

I went to Atco tonight and had a DA that was within 100 ft of my previous best pass with the smaller 216-530 Comp Cam I used to run..

Old Time w/the 216-530 Comp--11.526/1.528/116.23

New Time w/the TR Cam---11.422/1.511/117.47!!!
I also backed it up 2 more times.

Anyone thinking of running the THUNDER cam should do it ASAP.The TQ is AWESOME and it pulls HARD to the big end.Idle is great for a larger cam.It was worth 10RW over my Little 216-530 Comp for sure.

Glad you're getting those times down JS! I still think .1th is not enough to justify switching out cams. I bet your car ran a lot better with that 216 camshaft.

did you do anything to get the cam to idle nicely?

My idle in gear is 900 and the cam idles smoothly when the engine is cool (e.g. coolant temp of 120 degrees), but once fully warmed up, the car often shakes.

Actually Terry the TR cam is a MUICH better cam.
It idles very nice at 925.It pulls ALOT harder than the Comp.No comparision.

How can u say a cam change isnt worth picking up a tenth,Terry?Lets face it buddy u r NOT gonna get 2 tenths from a bolton on once u start going 11.50 and quicker.Its much harder to get results at that point.I tested both cams and the TR BLOWS the Comp away..

The DA was -671 when I made the run and was even better as the night went on (-981} but the track/ground got cold which hurts hook...If the sun wouldve been heating the surface I think the could go a 11.3??? w/ME {320lbs} driving..

JS, about 4pm it was howling up here , so I didn't go. Maybe this weekend. I notice you got a nice 1.51 to go with your new best. That's great, Atco usually is slippery after a rain the same day.
