Default Borla 40474 vs 40349 - Will either work?

I just want to replace my stock muffler. I like Borla but don't have the money for a cat-back system.

I don't get why the 40474 is so much more expensive. Other than $150 and the location of the inlet, what is the difference between the two? I was just wondering if anyone here was using the 40349 without any insall problems?

Both are the same design center in dual out. The 474 is a bigger case , generally the narrower and longer case muffler will be louder than a big case . They will both perform about the same , but they will sound different the choice is yours.

The 40349 is NOT configured correctly to use as a direct stock replacement, but the 40474 is, and it will flow very well!

IMO, the 40474 is overpriced, but your only Borla option for a stock replacement. IMO, I'd recommend getting a Dynomax, Ultra Flo Welded, muffler #17227. It'll have a quieter tone then the Borla, but flow just a good and it'll only cost $110 and it's also a direct replacement which is made from 409 SS .

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. After looking at them I realized that the 40349 is like a center in, dual out, whereas the other one is the transverse model (like the stock muffler).

I'm thinking I'm going to go with the TSP Rumbler cat back, as per a lot of the threads on here. I like loud, but my cutout rattled the car too much. (More than Pontiacs already rattle...
